Saturday July 13: Class A: From 1 PM to 5:30 PM:  4.5 hour class

60 minutes of theory: Five Elements and Vata, Pitta, Kapha: TriDosha Contitutional Theory; Virya: Heating or Cooling Energy of Herbs and Foods

6 Fundamental Herbs for the Doshas: Triphala: Amalaki, Haritaki, Bhibitaki; Ashwagandha, Shatavari, Punarnava

Stomach – 9 herbs: Ajamoda, Amalaki, Cumin, Ginger, Mustha, Saffron, Shatavari, Shanka Bhasma, Yashti Madhu (Licorice)

 

Sunday July 14: Class B: From 1 PM to 5:30 PM:  4.5 hour class

60 minutes of theory: Inner Pharmacy of the Six Tastes: Sweet, Sour, Salty, Bitter, Pungent, Astringent; Intro to the 7 Bodily / Cellular Tissues (Dhatus)

Balancing the Doshas; Cleansing: the Concept of Toxins (Ama) in Ayurveda

Treating fever and flu.

7 Herbs for Blood Plasma and Lymph (Rasa Dhatu)

Vata: Adrak (Fresh ginger), Tulsi, Sudarshan

Pitta: Mahasudarshan

Kapha: Kanchanar, Shunthi (Dry ginger), Mahasudarshan

Heart – 10 herbs: Amalaki, Arjuna, Shringa Bhasma, Cinnamon, Guduci, Hawthorn Berry, Nutmeg, Passion Flower, Pomegranate, Tagar

 

Monday July 15: Class C: From 6:30 PM to 8:30 PM:  2 hour class

60 minutes of theory: Tibetan and Chinese Perspectives on the Inner Pharmacy of the Six Tastes: Sweet, Sour, Salty, Bitter, Pungent, Astringent; Tibetan Concept of the 7 Bodily / Cellular Tissues (Dhatus).  Brief review of the herbs and concepts covered on Saturday and Sunday.  Medicated oils for skin problems; treating eyes problems, diarrhea, jaundice, hepatitis


 

SEMINAR II: Introduction to Indo-Tibetan Ayurvedic Herbology

Saturday August 10: Class A: From 1 PM to 5:30 PM:  4.5 hour class

90 minutes of theory: The 20 Qualities of All Substances (20 Gunas);

Basic introduction to the seven classical diagnosis techniques of Indo-Tibetan Ayurveda including examination and assessment of the pulse, tongue, voice, form, eyes, urine and feces.

8 Herbs for Blood, RBC (Rakta Dhatu)
Vata:
Loha bhasma (iron), Abhrak bhasma

Pitta: Manjistha, Neem, Guduchi, Amalaki

Kapha: Manjistha, Kutki

Treating heart disease, high blood pressure, heart problems, herpes, anger.

Liver – 7 herbs: Aloe Vera Gel, Kutki, Neem, Manjishtha, Shankha Pushpi, Shilajit, Tikta

 

Sunday August 11: Class B: From 1 PM to 5:30 PM:  4.5 hour class

60 minutes of theory: Medicated oils for the muscles; muscle pain, muscle wasting, fibromyalgia, chronic fatigue syndrome.

Saturday September 14: Class A: From 1 PM to 5:30 PM:  4.5 hour class

60 minutes of theory: How to Create an Herbal Formula: Constitutional balancing (dosha pratyanik); Disease destroying (vyadhi pratyanik); Treating the chronic symptoms and complications (lakshana and upadrava pratyanik); Formation Methods according to Chinese, Indian, and Western herbalism.  Treating cough, colds, allergies, asthma, bronchitis.  

Lungs – 8 herbs: Abhraka Bhasma, Kantakari, Pippali, Punarnava, Tulsi, Yasthi Madhu (licorice), Talisadi, Sitopaladi

Pericardium – 5 herbs: Cinnamon, Ginger, Gulvel Sattva, Nutmeg, Puskaramula

Gall Bladder – 7 herbs: Aloe vera juice, Black pepper, Fresh ginger, Jatamamsi, Pippali, Olive oil, Neem

Treating diarrhea and constipation

Colon – 6 herbs: Castor oil, Ajwain, Hinga, Sat Isobgol, Senna, Triphala

30 minutes of theory: Medicated Oils for the Mind; treating depression, fatigue, Alzheimer’s, poor memory, insomnia, nervousness, anxiety, epilepsy, anger, mania, S.A.D., poor mental performance, multiple sclerosis.

5 Herbs for Nerve and Connective Tissue, Bone Marrow (Majja Dhatu)

Vata: Jatamamsi, Sarasvati

Pitta: Brahmi, Jatamamsi

Kapha: Brahmi, Vaccha, Sarasvati

Circulation – 8 herbs: Cardamom, Cayenne pepper, Cinnamon, Clove, Manjishtha, Red Sandalwood, Trikatu, Turmeric

 

Losang’s 10 years of scholarship included Chinese Medicine theory and two intensive Tibetan Medicine study trips to H.H. Dalai Lama’s Tibetan Medicine & Astro Institute in the Himalayas (www.tibetan-medicine.org), where he studied with Tibetan Dr. Kelsang Dorje. Blending Tibetan Herbology with the Buddhist Shurangama Mantra is Losang’s study and practice focus.

Vata: Ashvagandha, Kapikacchu, Vidhari

Pitta: Shanka pushpi

Kapha: Kapikacchu, Shilajit

Kidney – 4 herbs: Cilantro, Gokshura, Punarnava, Silajit

 

Sunday October 13: Class A: From 1 PM to 5:30 PM:  4.5 hour class

60 minutes of theory: Medicated oils for women; Treating menstrual, reproductive and breast problems.
7 Herbs for the Female Reproductive System (Artava Dhatu)

Vata: Ashoka, Vidhari

Pitta: Shatavari, Ashoka, Aloe Vera Gel

Kapha: Shilajit, Vidhari

Bladder – 8 herbs: Amalaki, Candana (Sandalwood), Coconut water, Coriander, Cumin, Fennel, Gokshura, Punarnava

 

Monday October 14: Class C: From 6:30 PM to 8:30 PM:  2 hour class

60 minutes of theory: Assisting in the treatment and prevention of cancer according to Ayurveda.  A look at the Ayurvedic perspectives on various cancers and anti-cancer herbs.

7 Anti-cancer herbs: Turmeric, Neem, Triphala, Shilajit, Kutki, Arogyavardini, Chyanprash
